You wouldn't believe it but I ironed this as best I could, the fabric seems to like to have a bit of a wrinkle in it. This new skirt is for Lilly.
I wasn't sure if you were able to see the tiny glass seed beads which I hand sewed in place onto the vintage crocheted doily which I found at some flea market or other. So here is a close up. I used one of my own skirts as a basis for this easy bias skirt and was happy how it turned out.
Once I got the Japanese plaid fabric out I wanted to make more with it.
These little yo-yos in various sizes and fabrics seemed right for the purse to pretty it up.
I am crazy about this Japanese floral for the lining. I like the iron-on interfacing that I used for this purse, it gave it just the right amount of stiffness so it will protect the contents and keep its shape.
OMG, you have the most beautiful way with this fabric! I love what you are doing!

The detailing on both of these pieces is wonderful. I find it hard to stop making yo yo's once I've started. I'm right in the middle of some now. :)
Have a wonderful week!

That skirt is simply beautiful. Love the glass beads and doily. The colour choices for the yo-yos compliment the purse fabric perfectly. Lovely!

have to agree... those yo-yos are a great finishing touch on your bag and the little loop as well!
i am amazed at how neatly you manage to get those zippers into your pouches...mine usually end up with a tuck somewhere :/
the little doily looks so pretty on the skirt. can´t wait to see the first photo of lilly wearing it!

You have turned this pretty fabric into such lovely garments and useful objects. Love the soft color and mix of textures you use.

I love surprises like the lining in the purse, but the beaded doily on the skirt takes the cake on this post. I love the juxtaposition of the dainty doily against the linear way of the plaid. Had the colors in the plaid fabric not been as understated as they are, I am not sure the piece would have been as successful as it turned out to be. I enjoyed seeing this project of yours. Carolina

You made some good points there. I did a search on the topic and found most people will agree with your blog.

The skirt is beautiful. Again, I love how you add small tiny details that sometimes are overseen but that can be found for the curious eye. The details are somehow so thoughtful.
...Ohhh and your purse looks as Japaneese and zakka as they come!
