I am making another hat. It will be for me. The kids both have oodles of hats and mittens but not me. My wardrobe needs a little lift. Well, honestly, it could use a huge lift, but this hat will help me on the way to being warm.
I found three skeins of this wonderful fine wool at a flea market last spring. I am making up the pattern as I go. It is going to have a folded ribbing for extra warmth. Black seems like a good color, so simple and it goes with everythng.
I do like black and white. This black and white decorative lassie has found a spot in my shop today. As you can see my embroidery needle was busy decorating her with multiple flowers with copious knots.
I had to see how she would look with a splash of color around her. I like the contrast. I named Fru Ulsrud after a place in Oslo. I have been enjoying naming my creations after areas of my city lately.
She is very pretty and looks wonderful surrounded by those beautiful mushrooms. The hat is looking great too. Bless your patience - that is a lot of ribbing!

Making the pattern as you go, that means trusting the process, just following as things go.
Thanks for visiting my blog.

Fru Ulsrud looks wonderful in front of all that color, she really pops! Are those cables on the hat? Black is always a hard color to see details on - I've been practicing my cables lately, and the more I do the easier it gets.
Now mind you I'm working on simple basic cables and I have no idea how long it will take to try some more complicated ones, but I love a challenge so maybe not so long after all.
Hugs

Hi Yvette!
Yes, those are cables, probably quite the wasted effort since cables are so hard to see on black. I think the cables will keep me warmer though, it seems to thicken the knitting nicely. My cables are really simple too. The complicated ones I have done before and they aren't so hard, in my opinion, they just take a long time!
hugs to you too!

Black and white are so classic. I find that they add just the right touch of class to a palette of riotous color. The hat looks warm and toasty already and it isn't even off the needles!
