When Mom left for home she left me with a little assignment.
She began this dress at the beginning of our visit.
And she knit away steadily. The bottom part was tricky and slow, but then when she got to the black it went quite quickly.
But the end of the visit just came too darned fast and when she asked me to finish the trim on the arm openings and to sew on the pretty clasps.
I enjoyed being asked to contribute! Lilly waited patiently but excitedly to try it on one of her babies.
It fit nicely.
Grandma really outdid herself, because look at these little shoes she made too!
You can see how pleased Lilly is with her baby's new outfit.
One happy little mama-in-training.
Thanks so much Mom for this marvelous gift! And there is a sweater still being knitted to match too I hear...
Today I have spent some time ironing new and freshly laundered fabrics as well as cleaning up my sewing room. That should hopefully lead to good, crafty things. A clean space is so inspiring!
Wishing you a fantastic weekend!
Dearest Emily, I have been away a bit (the beginning of the year in homeschooling has taken quite a bite of my time), but what a lovely and heart warming surprise it was to see such a cozy little dress made. I am sure Lilly will treasure it forever and pass it on to her own children to play with many years from now. I would like to have one for myself to wear. A cozy, warm dress that says it all- it is back to school time. Carolina

Just lovely! It is too bad that in the US there isn't a "National Costume" of any sort. I know the Native American tribes have theirs, but the rest of us ... ? I guess we pick up on the area of the country we live in ... or from our nationality. Just a thought ...
Hugs,
Yvette

Hi Emily,
Such a beautiful outfit for your daughter's doll. I'm sure she will cherish that for years to come. She is such a cutie. I mentioned about you and your beautiful Matryoshka dolls on my blog yesterday, maybe you would like to have a peek at the post.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Delightful! I love the joint effort and I loved the experience of reading the post: I'm thinking oh! perhaps this sweetness is for a baby! And then the beautiful surprise of seeing the doll in arms!
Emily, I have missed you. Somehow I got lost over the summer...too much (good) time spent elsewhere than the computer! Hope you are well!
XOXO

I know I'm a little behind the curve commenting on this post, but I've been thinking about this darling doll's dress for months since I first saw your pictures! It's gorgeous! I hope you get this message since I know you're closing your blog and etsy shop (boo hoo hoo!!). Is there any possibility that I could acquire/buy a copy of the pattern? My sister-in-law and niece speak Norwegian (if the pattern is in Norwegian) and they could translate for me. I would love to have a copy of this pattern! Please let me know if it's a possiblity...alipyper@gmail.com.
Best wishes to you - and if you decide to start another blog (especially about your knitting adventures!) please let me know! I'd love to follow along!
