My hexagon pillow did take awhile to make, I had to go searching for more fabric actually, as I didn't have enough of the right colors. I had a little help from some fabric loving friends so each hexagon was made with a unique print.
However, I finished it quite awhile back, in June actually.
You know I had to dig into the archives of this blog to find this embroidery in progress. It is a great feeling to have figured out what I would do with the embroidery and I am so happy to have finished the pillow.
Pillow covers are a wonderful way to play around with a technique or idea, much more doable than tackling a quilt!
I did learn that making the covers a bit smaller than the pillow inserts would make the pillow look much plumper. Next time I will do that. In any case we have been putting these pillows to good use.
Emily they are gorgeous. I love them. :)

Beautiful!! The hexagons are fabulous. And you are right--so much easier to play with a small size like a pillow cover. A good way to get a feel for a new technique or pattern. Have a wonderfully creative week!

I Love the hexagon!! Your Pillow is so sweet!! And yes, is so easier to sew a pillow, than a quilt. Now I sew a big Hexagon-quilt;)...

The quilt, the pillows, they are all so pretty and gorgeous! Love the fabrics in the hexagon pillow. I agree with you about trying things out on a smaller piece first. That way you have a chance of finishing it, even if it's not really you.

Very pretty. I wanted to do some more English paper piecing and thought a pillowcase might be a better start than something larger. Love how it looks!

HEXAGON HAPPINESS PILLOW - That is what I am going to name that pillow when I get around to attempting it. Just looking at yours makes me happy. Not that I am not happy, Emily, but happiness is something that I can always handle more of. Carolina

i think it's sweet that *someone* delights in the handmade pleasures made by mama. I wonder what stories she will tell when she's her own grown woman...!

Gorgeously pretty pillows. I too love making pillows so I can trial different patterns/techniques without committing to a large quilt.
