I so appreciate your visiting my blog, writing such nice words, and all of your encouragement. It means so much to me and having a give away is just a little way to say thank you. So it is really wonderful to tell you that I have such a delightful prize in store for the winner of this one! A friend of mine, Apol, the incredible talent behind the Etsy shop, La Pomme, has offered the prize for this give away!
Actually she is so sweet, you get to pick from two beautiful handmade items. This give away is her way of celebrating the launch of her autum-winter collection. The Joy Pears are half hand sewn and are hand stamped.
As you can see Apol has a lovely touch with such nice details, like the real licorice roots she uses on her fruits,
and the fabric bags she wraps them in are made from recycled old blankets are also hand stamped with "Joy."
These are Apol's Personalized White Plush Apples. If the winner selects this as the prize then she/he may have the names of their choice hand stamped on the apples.
So, to enter my give away please leave a comment to this post. (We would love to hear what your favorite fruit is and why). The give away will close on Tuesday, September 21 and I will select a winner shortly after.
The winner of this give away will get to pick, either the Personalized White Plush Apples or the Joy Pears.
If you would like to help me spread the word about this give away I would be most grateful!
*The give away is now closed. Thanks so much for all of your delightful comments. A winner will be picked shortly.*
Love those pears. So pretty and fragile. I'm really into anything from the garden or countryside at the moment - have been preserving as much as possible to be able to keep autumn alive all winter. The rose hips are especially wonderful right now here in Denmark.

So delightful fruit prizes in this give away!
Choosing my favorite fruit is quite hard because I like so many, but I guess that home grown, fresh plums are at the top of my list.

I love the pears and as it so happens, pears are one of my favorite fruits. The locally owned natural grocer I shop at has these most delicious green pears called Abate Fetel that are the most sweet, moist treats you'll ever sink your teeth into! If you ever see them at your market I highly recommend buying some!
Thank you for hosting the giveaway and to Apol who does amazing work!

What a delightful giveaway. The pears are so beautiful but it would be such a hard choice. A hard choice to pick my favourite fruit too but I think it would have to be nectarines - they are good for such a short season that they remind me of summer.

I love reading your blog! I eat a great amount of fruit everyday, but bananas are my favourite fruit. A banana is almost a small meal.
Posted by: Maria | September 15, 2010 at 06:57 PM
My favourite fruit has always been the pear. Not that it's because of this post I say that, but the truth is it. :) I love the Asian/Chinese pear, These pears are usually round, firm to touch when ripe, and are ready to eat after harvest. Asian pears are known for keeping well. My mom furnished us with loads of it since we were little with certainty of its high fibrous and vitaminal values for the digestive system. It is very nice to eat with salads.

I like the Love Pears for their simplicity in design. These could adorn any area of ones home, be it mantle, hall or shelf. Just lovely.
Posted by: Angie | September 15, 2010 at 07:37 PM
Oh the pears are so sweet. I love any fruit that is fresh. My favorite fruit is the strawberry. Here in Nova Scotia the strawberry season is from June through the end of July. The strawberries are so sweet there is no need to add sugar! I made strawberry jam recently and all three of my children absolutely love it !
Posted by: Teresa | September 15, 2010 at 07:38 PM
My favourite fruit is the mango, a taste inherited from my Australian father, but I'm also a big fan of anything that's ripe and in season. I love the pretty pears too, they would be lovely year round. Thanks!
Posted by: Julia | September 15, 2010 at 08:18 PM

I love Apol's work! Such generous giveaway! I have LOVE pears already, so I think my choice would be apples this time :-).
My favorite fruit are strawberries, but I haven't eaten any for sometime now since I'm breastfeeding. Those Apol's apples would be nice consolation for it. Have a great weekend!
Posted by: Mirna | September 16, 2010 at 08:49 AM
Out of the pears or apples of the shop it's hard to choose which I like best. It's a great shop and all the handmade items are enchanting (as is the selection of vintage items). They're so well-made and beautiful.
My favourite would be the Love Pears with the Golden Apples right behind them.

Hope to be lucky!

Groeten, Corry
Posted by: Corry | September 16, 2010 at 12:58 PM
Granadilla - (as we called it in South Africa) or Passion Fruit as it is known in the UK - is my favourite fruit! The vine has the most beautiful, huge, ornate flowers that herald delicious things to come! What I love about granadillas is that they are so very ugly and yet they produce the most yummy, sweet pulp and pips! As children we would pick them straight from the vine and suck out the middle! As an adult I use them for cooking with and baking - especially good poured over a fresh fruit salad. Pure bliss and utter heaven in one mouthful!
Posted by: tess | September 16, 2010 at 01:08 PM
Pears are my favorite fruit - to eat.
I would love the apples though as I would love have them with my three children's names on them.
Thanks for the lovely giveaway
Posted by: Colleen | September 16, 2010 at 01:25 PM
I would love to win either or the prizes! My favorite fruit is probably the nectarine, I love peaches too but don't really love the fuzz.

Oh these are just gorgeous - you could put them anywhere...on a window sill, on a book shelf or, ahem , in a fruit bowl!
My fave fruit is banana because they're filling and really versatile - you can chop them on to porridge or yoghurt, mash 'em in a sandwich, bbq them, make loaves with them and (might be on my own on this one!) but they're yummy with chocolate spread too! x

Wow, I have been busy with school and almost missed this, can I add my comment to the list? Both the apples and the pears are made with perfection. I like that neither of them are colored - very hip and modern. I think that your friend, Apol, reduced these well known fruit to there most essential state - their shape. Funny how we immediately can relate to the shapes without any color. It is one thing to make an apple shaped or a pear shaped "thing", but what keeps these connected to us is that they are made with a part of nature - the twigs (or branches) anchor these pieces for us. I think many people will connect to this.
If I had my druthers, I would pick the pears. I would also ask Apol to leave them blank for me. I would put them on a window sill and watch how the changing light of the day would play on those pears. They are exquisite.
And last but not least ... picking a favorite fruit is akin to picking a favorite child - impossible. The peaches were divine a month ago, the pears , sublime, today.
A long comment today, Emily, perhaps to make up for my absence. Let Apol know that I am impressed with her work. Carolina
Posted by: Carolina Elena | September 16, 2010 at 07:14 PM
I am a fruit & veggie kind of person so I like all fruits. But my favorite would be all kinds of berries, especially strawberries and blueberries. However, out of Apol's fruits, I like the pears the best! Thanks for the giveaway. I will post it on my blog to sread the word.

Posted by: Carrie Mc W | September 17, 2010 at 06:30 AM
now if i were to choose between apols pears or apples, i would pick the apples with the zigzag cut leaves added as a cute-as-a-button finishing touch! BOTH are just so precious, arent they? makes it hard to pick!
i LOVE ALL fruits, depending on the season... but since you caught me with this at the start of fall, i have to say my favorite at the moment are all the apples followed closely by pumpkins that add their warm, sunny colors to the gray, wet weather we are having. Both combine with spices well, just perfect for this time of year!
