Mom is here! It is wonderful to be together. The first evening of her visit mom showed me the gorgeous yarn she bought at the Fiber Frolic to make mittens for Sebastian.
The wool and alpaca yarn by Good Karma Farm of Belfast, Maine is not only pretty for the eye but soft as can be.
Whenever we get together we seem to have skeins of yarn to wind into balls and it is so cozy to do it together. Mom holds while I wind. We chatter away, occasionally pausing to oh and ah over the yarn.
One ball done, and now it is my turn. I had a few balls to wind too. Including the pretty green in the front that I got from Ballee.
Now it is time to get knitting... and visiting.
And gardening... mom helped Sebastian to dig and prepare the soil, spread out the compost we have been making all spring, and planting seeds. It is a bit late in the season but hopefully we will get enough sunshine that some seeds might grow up into plants to harvest before the cold hits.
These are happy days here!
Ooh.. lovely colors!
Wish I could knit :D

Mothers are so precious (I'm lucky to still have mine) ! Such of great help to make those gorgeous yarn balls !
I LOVE your 2 last pictures: one doesn't always realise the big place grand'parents take in every child's heart.
Such a beautiful lesson of life !

What a glorious post. I was fascinated by how neat your balls of yarn are. Do you have a gadget to help? How do you get the holes in the middle? I hope you have a really fabulous time with your Mum. Lots of love, Amanda xxx

Oh Emily, this post brought back so many beautiful memories of when we lived in Maine. I used to go to the Common Ground Fair - before it it moved to Unity. I used to get wool there. They didn't have the Fiber Frolic yet. My daughters used to get the best tomatoes from the seeds we got at Johnny's Selected Seeds. We still order their seeds for our garden from Johnny's now that we live here, in Tennessee. Enjoy your visit with your Mom, and again thanks for sharing a pice of it with me. Carolina

Gorgeous yarn! I just love the wool/alpaca combo. And how nice to have your mom there. My mom and I are so close and just love seeing her interact with my girls.

The colours are great, as always are in your blog. But I also feel very happy about hearing you are so attached to your mom and delighted she is with you all this time.
Enjoy summer!

Your mother is one of my most favorite people and my daughter's too! I know how much she loves her visits with you and your family. I especially love to see her hands and hair in the gardening photos = I can just hear her explaining what she is doing as she is doing it... what a gift you have in her!
Enjoy your time together.
(And she always brings back the most beautiful thrifted sweaters... she needs to carry an empty suitcase for me!)
