Hipp Hipp Horrah!
I had to give you a taste of the gorgeous handwork that was on display on Norway's National Day, the 17th of May.
This handsome couple was seen among the crowds at the castle. Many of the men were even decked out from head to toe in hand made finery. I think the woolen cabled socks are wonderful, and I am sure he was glad it was a cool day.
You can just imagine the hours of stitching that went into each of these pretty garments.
Such inspiration for those of us who enjoy needlework! A big thanks to my father for these photos, he was the photographer for this post.
That stitching is beyond wonderful -- thank you for sharing!

They are very lovely. Too bad 'sewing' isn't taught in schools anymore. I think it is a skill that is still needed, but then at 62, what do I know ... LOL
I really miss seeing National Costumes worn at celebrations - I'm from Denmark.
The US doesn't really have a national costume ...

Hey! I was thinking of you this weekend when listening to St. Paul Sunday music show (on Sunday, public radio). The guests were Medieval Trio, and they sang several gorgeous Norwegian folk songs.

Love , love, Love how the white embroidery stitches move from the embroidery band of fabric onto the plain band of fabric in the blue dress. Had you not shown that to me through your blog, I never could have imagined the impact it has. Love it.

Beautiful clothing, such wonderful inspiration! I agree, the hours it must have took to stitch it all.
I so wish we could afford to travel. Thanks for sharing picture, such a delight to see even if from afar.
