Spring is here and it is wonderful! No way to express it really, the immense joy of it! I try here to capture some of its beauty.
Blossoms are turning up here and there!
The surge of energy of the spring air must have encouraged me to tackle my first buttonhole. I found myself making this dress for Lilly with three buttons and that meant I had to get over my fear of learning how to do the button holes. I got out a sewing book, my sewing machine instructions, and the funny button hole foot. I used a scrap and made a few practice ones. There were a few setbacks at the beginning but I kept at it and before long I dared to do the real thing on her dress.
Here she is wearing it. The fit of the dress isn't the best, but that isn't due to my sewing skills.
She was patient and played happily with her bunnies while I took photos. As you might have noticed, they are smooching.
Outdoors we are now on our way to nursery school.
Early morning walks are always a joy, full of song, skipping and discoveries.
Hei Emily. Den blusen til lily var kjempesøt. hilsen Anne

Emily, your photos are beautiful, and I admire you for trying the button holes...they look great! (I kind of avoid doing them myself...have to get over that :-)

The dress, the photos, the smooching bunnies and your gorgeous daughter, they all look lovely to me. I think button holes are like zips, once you have conquered them you wonder why they were so frightening! :)

Darling dress! You did a great job. And the true sign of job well done is Lilly's smile. She looks radiant.

It turned out really cute! She looks happy too... so #1 rule of thumb... If your client is happy with what you have sewn... your way ahead of the game! Was it one of the Japanese patterns? I wondered because of the wrapped effect. Cute, cute, cute!

I just checked out your tutorial for the little flowers...too cute! Brilliant tutorial and I have to say so easy to make. I just did a button hole on the back so the opening wouldn't fray when I stitched it up. Those blossoms on your daughters dress are adorable! I love her bunnies...did you make them? Do you know if there is a pattern? Will photo my flowers and add them to the flikr page. Thanks for the lovely tutorial and lovely ideas of how to use them :-)
