When I entered Mai's contest awhile ago I didn't think I had much of a chance to win, not due to her lack of prizes, she was so sweet to pick 14 winners! The reason I didn't hold my breath to win was that she had nearly 300 entries! Lady luck was with me though and I was the final winner and how fun because Mai is a friend of mine!
The packages she sends are delightful!
Even the envelope she mailed this in was unique and wonderful, she simply taped together some magazine pages.
She has the nicest taste in fabrics! Mai, thank you! I adore them all.
I haven't had a chance to play with them yet, there are just so many projects underway at the moment. Here's one completed one. First a peek inside the totebag I made.
The large floral print on the outer fabric was a marvelous find on one of my thrifting adventures last year. It is a decorator weight fabric and although I have some yardage of it with the selvages it doesn't say who made it. I am dying of curiosity so if anyone recognizes it I would love to know who made it and any guess to how old it is.
I felt very brave to finally cut into it. It just seems so special and I worry I won't do it justice. This time I was fortunate and am so pleased with how it turned out! The bag is now in my shop. I think I will have to make another one for me though because I love it so. I based this bag on one I made for myself a few years ago and have used constantly to the point of being quite worn out. I find the size and shape perfect for my sock or mitten knitting project, with enough extra space for my cell phone, keys and my wallet too.
Oooo :) what a lovely tote!! And the package looks so nice. Spring, spring, spring in the air! It is obvious your creative juices are flowing! xo

Ooooh, yes, I can identify that fabulous fabric. It was sold at Ikea several years ago (6? 8?) and designed by Cath Kidston. There was fabric by the yard and also duvet covers and pillows. I have a bit of it but wish I had more. You can find it on ebay. Lucky you!! Beautiful tote!!

Hi, I agree with Emily, the fabric is from Ikea. I made some bags and cushion covers with some a couple of years ago. It's lovely fabric.
