Happy belated Valentine's Day! My little ones were surprised and pleased when they came down to breakfast and were greeted by their napkins and pairs of new mittens I made them to celebrate. I would show you the new mittens but they are outdoors wearing them now. And you have seen the napkins.
I am always making hearts. Here are three on a custom order. This is the first time I made 3 identical dolls.Things are good in threes aren't they? I made these last week:
Vintage thrifted doilies and linen were meant to be together...
all tied up with sturdy but feminine cotton trim. These should be handy...
...for keeping track of little runaway pins.
I would be too cruel to cut up someone's beautiful work. I carefully salvaged the sections that were useable and sewed them in place so that their charm might live on.
Inside I have used Japanese cottons.
It has been difficult to find time to sew lately. I have had a lot of competition for the sewing machine...
He has seriously spent so much time at the machine and has been learning all about sewing, just by doing. He has plans of opening his own shop.
He'll be home this week for winter vacation. I hope we'll do more sewing, some sledding, read a few books and do lot of snuggling.
I love Linen and lacy! These needles book looks so lovely and sweet! Would love to have one like that too. That little one is so talented! Have a fun good time during this vacation! Loving your blog and shop!
Hope your having a lovely merry weekend!

The little triplets are going to be so sweet!! love it!
oh, and those pin books are just too precious. love the idea of using thrifted lacy doilies. might have to try that myself. looks so delicate.
i've been finding myself in the same situation with my girls. i've been teaching them, and now everytime i'm in my sewing room they follow right along. :)
i'm glad you had a wonderful valentine's day.

Your needle savers turned out so elegant! I really like the way that you put the vintage with the new! Very nice!
And neat picture of your Sebastian... good for all to know how to sew... hmmm if it gets too bad, you may have to get another machine! There are some good used ones on line. Have a great winter break time together!

Hi Emily: Everything about this post is so sweet! Your dolls, the pretty doily needle books, and your boy taking up sewing. I know my son loved to dabble with the fabrics and machines and make costumes parts - capes and flags and hats. You just reminded me of that! -- Michele

what a perfect way to use those vintage thrifted doilies! Love the competition you have at the sewing machine :-)

Those are the most beautiful needle books, I've seen. Lace and linen work so well together.
It's great that Sebastian wants to sew aswell, he has seen the pleasure you have in sewing and all the lovely things you can create so why wouldn't he. Yesterday Elsi wanted to try knitting and I was surprised how quickly she got the idea, even though it's still way in the future to have her knitting alone. The power of example is so surprising.

Your booklets are great. But the photo of your son behind the sewing machine is sooo cute. I love it when he opens his shop. Tell him I'm his first customer no matter what he sells (mmm few reservations about prizes though!).
Have a great week!

The doilies on the linen look wonderful. There is something special about beautiful lacy doilies that someone has put so much work into. I have quite a collection of ones that have caught my eye and op shops etc.

This needle books are so very charming, the colour combination is amazing, I completely love how the colour pink is making the linen and doilies look even more delicate. Love it a lot and also your heart napkins, what a wonderful way to make hearts and I will keep your design in my mind for further celebrations (especially mother`s day).
Have a lovely happy day and lots of fun in your snowy winter country,
best wishes,
Suzi

Beautiful needlecases! I am glad you managed to use the good parts of them rather than dismiss them as too holed to use. The dolls look good too.
I hope you are having a lovely time with your children while they are on their hols. Mine went back yesterday.
