I am really excited because I have placed an order with Spoonflower... Anyone else dream of becoming a fabric designer? Well, Spoonflower gives you the opportunity. You can order as little as a swatch. Marisa's beautiful fabric got me going. In the meantime, I have been working on embroidered faces for my matryoshkas that I might include in my shop.
The look is really different from my painted faces and I think it makes them look more childlike and innocently sweet.
I am no longer able to ship dolls with painted faces to the US, but the freshly embroidered Frøken A (Miss A in Norwegian) is in my shop and I am able to ship her to the US!
This little fellow hopped into our home at Christmastime when mom came to visit. It was one of the many gifts she spoiled us with when she arrived.
One of my mother's good friends made it. I adore it and the children do too. The felt makes it so irresistable to touch and the stitches and beads add such good texture too. We are so happy to have this handmade treasure to decorate our table.
I haven't quite decided what I will be sewing this weekend, but have a date with this beauty. Are you going to be doing anything crafty this weekend? Wishing you a good weekend.
Before going I want to thank Jewel for the award she gave me on her blog.
i can't wait to see your fabric from spoon flower! i have been thinking about doing that!

I really like the embroidered faces. Why can't you ship painted faces to the USA? I will be finishing a sweater for my son and a second sock!

I absolutely love the embroidered faces - I am going to check out your shop now! Thank you for the link to Spoonflower (I hadn't heard of them before!) and am now so inspired to create a little fragment of my own fabric too!

What a wonderful idea! They do look really good.
Well done for being innovative. I understood that the US awful-bill was being delayed thankfully.
I am running fast to Spoonflowers now- what an exciting idea. I am really hoping that this recession will bring about positive changes, and big companies will no longer go around "as they always have" but actually innovate and be more responsive to their customers for a change.

These are lovely!
Also wanted to let you know that the troublesome legislation about toy manufacturing in the US is currently on hold for a year. Crafters around the country made a big uproar and thankfully, our elected officials heard us. It is currently being looked at so that handmade businesses dont suffer. Here's more info on it:
