I just want to knit. All day long. I really got bit by the knitting bug when mom was visiting and I still have it bad. But it feels so good. The needles click away while I sit with the children who play nicely (always) in the living room or kitchen or playroom. Lilly has been tricycling around on her 3 wheeler in the living room. Sebastian brought it in one day from outside, washed it for her in the tub and presented it to her to use. They were both pleased as can be!
This is what I am knitting. Yes, the beauties on the cover! I have had this book for ages and have always wanted to knit the pair pictured here with the people holding hands. Anne Katrine inspired me to make them when I saw she has this exact pair!
The needles are size 2 mm, pretty tiny and the yarn is ditto. Just finished with the little folk dancers.
I made the moose mittens for my husband many years ago, in the right corner. They didn't fit him though even though the pattern said it was for a man. I wore them instead, but the fit wasn't great. I am sure it is going to be the same for this pair that I am making now too, but I have dreams of making a new pattern myself that will be unique and fit properly. We'll see if I get to it.
I thought you might like to see what the pattern looks like.
I have never attempted gloves before. I know I could do it but it does look fiddly. They are so beautiful though that I might have to make a pair. Now, to get knitting again...
I am so envious! I would love to learn how to knit, but have no one to teach me and am so chicken to try to learn on my own! Great job!

That´s the most beautiful book I´ve ever seen!!! Do you know if I can buy it now or is it too old? The mittens are now on my "wish-to-knit-list" / Petra

I wish I had the patience to make something like this. They're wonderful. I just love to sit in front of the tv and knit - without having to think too much! - so I tend to go for colour rather than pattern.

Ah! I love knitting in colors! And am fair at making my own patterns. Those are just gorgeous in black and white, but I am seeing them in so many other possibilities... I may have to get out my needles again. Thanks for sharing.

I really like the detail on the wrist part with the people holding hands --- that is really sweet!

I love that book! I have knit a pair of gloves from it once, and really want to knit the pair on the cover for myself, if only I could a way to downsize them.

Where did you find this book? I am waiting, not so patiently, for my yarn order to arrive with fingering weight yarn so that I can get started on a pair of mitten from the Selbuvotter book. I've fallen hard for Norwegian mittens!

simply gorgeous, I'm glad you've shown the back of the mitts too ( thank you ) as I've just started doing a bit of Intarsia and this will be my next step - fingers crossed :-)

Those models are just amazing ! The patterns, the details, everything is so beautiful !
It seems to me that 3 or 4 pairs of hands must be needed to actually knit those...(laughing)
I can't wait to see how you progress on this new project !

They look utterly amazing, my hat off to you for being able to make such an intricate pattern!

I have that booklet too, and I love it.

Kjempefine votter du strikker. Er du klar over at det finnes mini rundpinner (30cm). De er helt supre til vottestrikking, og resultatet blir mye finere.
Hilsen Sol som også har strikkedilla

Wow!

Beautiful! I can't wait to see how this progress. I've done a lot of knitting but the whole business of knitting with more than one color (other than stripes) still really freaks me out.

Love to look at all your Norwegian Mitten patterns. I would like to sew and embroider a pair of mittens. Did I see in the Norwegian embroidery book you featured a while ago, a pair of mittens that were open fingered on the palm side? And I was wondering if you have come across a pattern for them, that you might be able to feature.

You are a brave woman! Best of luck and I hope the fit is right.
Those mittens/gloves are art.
