Big boy has left for school, I am tidying up after breakfast in the kitchen. I am not really sure yet what we'll do that day. We really should do some shopping this morning and maybe go for a walk to get some fresh air and excercise. Little one comes in to me with plans of her own and she knows I am pretty easy in this department. "Mummie, I need more baby quilts, please can we make some."
Well, we didn't get to more than one, but since she has now taken nearly every dishtowel in the house to use as her baby blankets I thought she was saying pretty clearly that the 5 or so real quilts that she has aren't enough!
Off to the sewing room we went and she selected the fabrics. A short time later she was very pleased.
It is fairly crude and rough but it will keep her babies warm and cozy. I do so enjoy it that Lilly loves to sew with me. I hope that I can have a similar lovely relationship with her as I do with my own mother in that we will always be able to knit and sew or do other crafts together.
Mom sent this cute outfit for Lilly's doll the other day.
The fabrics had such a lovely rough feel and sturdiness to them. She was really pleased and had me help her to dress her doll.
I know that my mother made the pretty flannel jacket but I am not sure if she or someone else made the other clothes. Thank you so very much Mom!
Love the fabrics you chose for the quilt! I've been wanting to make one for my daughter - thanks for the idea b/c I'm going to start small by making one for her doll first. :) I agree with you about hoping our girls love to craft and sew, too.

Hi Emily,
I've been trying to catch up on your blog... I've been out of town visiting family and then busy helping my family that are in town!
Your little Lilly is growing so fast! Her little snow suit is cute! She looks like she is having fun!
The outfits for the doll that your mom sent are fun! I can bet that Lilly will keep you busy changing outfits!
Your doll that you did for the African challenge is really cute too! She looks like she belongs.
Your shopping finds are always so neat!
Take care.

What a great little quilt and the clothes that your mum sent are just adorable - all they need now is a little straw hat!!!
So nice to be able to stay home to make quilts as opposed to shopping!!

I love the fabrics you chose for the doll qult- so bright and cheerful in these darker days of rain.
I have occassional sew days with my daughter but she is currently started revision for her exams so she can do A' levels in September. It is good that you are getting Lily into good habits so young. School takes so much of their time when they are older.

That is so nice that you and your mother are both such talented crafters. Your daughter will certainly learn from you both, I'm sure!

what a beautiful quilt. The colours are gorgeous. I'm looking forward to my little one getting a bit bigger purely for the idea that I'll finally have some time to do things like that with my girls.

My little Susie loves to sit on my lap when I'm sewing on my sewing machine, and lately she's been holding the tip of my knitting needles as I knit... It doesn't really make my "job" any easier, but it sure is cosy! And it's good that they take such an interest. We can always hope that we'll keep that relationship forever, it's a gift!

I love this quilt, so pretty the way you appliqued the little hearts onto it and the background fabric so stylish for a little girl or doll.
