Maybe when the kids are bigger I will become a professional flea market buyer. It doesn't sound like a high-powered career but I would love it. If I had the time and transport and energy I would go to each and every one in town.
Yesterday's finds were particularly delightful.
These doilies with these incredibly tiny stitches are some of my most treasured finds. Now I have to figure out what to do with them... Any ideas for me?
These sweet printed placemats are going to be nice on the table in the spring.
I found just a bit of vintage fabric, here is my favorite.
I don't know if you will be able to stand it... I found a stack of 4 handmade vintage Norwegian sweaters. Don't you love the pewter buttons?
I don't know how anyone could give these away, but I am glad they did!
This reminds me that I have an amazing book to show you about Norwegian knitting for the hands. I borrowed it from the library and kept it out so long... it is now returned but I have some of my favorite pages to show you soon.
Our fall has been one of the prettiest ever! Hope your weekend has also been nice.
Just wanted to tell you that a couple of my girls were featured on a lovely blog with other Scandinavian artists.
What wonderful finds! And indeed, I love that buttons... *wants*

You had just the greatest luck at the flea-market. Especially those knits are fabulous. I rarely even see quality knits at the flea-markets - or more like never, so I guess you could well do as a pro flea-market shopper.

I think I would frame a couple of your doilies. I'm framing some of the hotpads that my grandmother had made. I would love to go to your flea markets you have good stuff. And those sweaters are wonderful!

I would love a handmade Norweigan sweater! I can't imagine someone giving them away. I tried to knit myself one, ages ago, but my knitting skills are too basic. I love the buttons on your new sweaters :)

What wonderful finds! The doileys could make wonderful centers for quilt blocks. A professional flea market shopper/buyer...need an assistant??? :o)
Posted by: Stephanie | October 20, 2008 at 06:21 PM
i'd say arrange them overlapping on the shoulder and down either the front or back of a sweet cardigan (a la anthropologie.com). maybe a smaller matching version for your daughter too! then, when the season's over or you're done with the cardigan, you can remove them and use them for another project.

Good shopping! I love flea markets too...:) Who doesn't???
you can use the little doilies under a glass, a mug, on a bread dish...

Love your finds. i think it was Stephanie who suggested making some doilies into the centre piece of a quilt.
I did subscribe to Sew Hip in the end. Thanks for advertising it better than the magazine did here in the UK.

Such beautiful doilies! And the sweaters are awesome. Are they in good enough condition to wear, or will they be recrafted?
