Before I show you any of my work I have to share Lilly's bit of stitching with you.
Sometimes when I am embroidering a doll Lilly will ask if she can join me and do some doll sewing too. I let her use my trial mama and baby doll that I made all in one color. She has spent much time sewing on both back and the front to my tremendous glee! Occasionally I will hear an "ouch" when she has pricked her finger. She continues though undaunted. This makes a mother so happy!
Now I get to show you my dolls! Bo is the sleepy little ghostly white matryoshka in my shop.I made her for the European Street Team's weekly challenge. This week the theme was "Your ghost", and clicking on this link will allow you to see the other entries.
And I also made one in black: Thora. I didn't manage to make any of them in the least scary, but on Thora I finally used some of the beautiful Japanese fabrics I have been longing to use.
I also made a doll for Halloween. Her name is Hexen, Norwegian for "the witch" and she is now SOLD, thanky you. My shop has never been more full as I am trying to prepare for the Christmas rush.
I just got two fun deliveries in the mail. They go together so it was fun that they arrived on the same day.
This little box contained 100 tiny cards.
I thought I would send one along with my orders and give others out as business cards.
I received these nice little tins for holding the cards from Päivi in Finland. She knew how to make me happy... she included the adorable trim in the package as a little gift! Thanks Päivi! I hope to make one into a cute doll sometime soon.
I hope you have all had a wonderful weekend! We sill have a few roses and really appreciated their bursts of color when we did a bit of yard work today.
What type of sewing tasks should I give Lilly now that she can sew?
My little GIVE AWAY is still on! To enter all you need to do is comment on my blog anniversary post!
Your new dolls are just adorable!
The moo cards and tins look great!

Well done Lily! How clever of her to start sewing. We used to have lovely open-meshed fabric at school called binka - great for practising cross stitch etc and then sewing it into pencil cases or little purses etc. Do you have that over there?

Lovely sewing by Lily ... my eldest two both love to sew using embroidery hoops - we draw a picture onto the fabric of their choice & then they 'embroider' it ... with varying degrees of success!

Golly Lilly is going to grown into quite the little crafter. It makes my heart swell to see them do this kind of thing, just one of the best gifts we can give our children - a sence of achievement indeed. Watching her confidence grow must be wonderful.
Just love love love the white doll, gosh she is beautiful.

Hi there, I am just wondering if you had a good experience with Moo...I am considering ordering some business cards from them and I would love to know what you thought about the whole thing!

Oh, I love love love that Halloween Hexen! What fun!
My boys always enjoyed sewing on wool felt with beautiful embroidery floss and a not-so-sharp (but not too dull, either!) needle. I would cut out circles for them, and they would turn out like colorful coasters. We gave some to grandparents and other appreciative adults!

Well done Lilly. Have you tried a big count Aida -good for running stitch and cross stitch practice. I remember getting a pencil and drawing around a wooden shape then doing a back stitch outline (horse)on gingham on top of the pencil line.
Beautiful dolls- your ghost looks so serene. The fabrics on Thora are so beautiful. I love the Halloween/harvest colours on Hexen. There's an old English expression of "to hex" someone = to wish them ill. I wonder if it came from our norse ancestors?

Those Moo cards are amazing - your photographs of your dolls are so beautiful - perhaps you should have them made up as postcards. x

Oh I love that Lilly is sewing:) My daughter goes to my moms house and does a little sewing now and then...When she was little like Lilly she called the sewing needle a nail...she would ask my mom can I sew? Where's the nail grandma? A funny memory :-)
Darling new fall inspired dolls.
Have a great week!

I love your ghost doll very much - I think it is all the different shades of white together. I sometimes find that after lots of colour I carve the calmness of white. Your moo cards look great! I was just loading up the moo site on a different tab as we are in need of new cards too, when I clicked over to your blog. Coincidence! Your moo cards are a great advertisement for them!

I was showing my 7 year old your blog and she's inspired to sew now too! And of course she's desperate to have one of your dolls. I love your blog too

I've never seen a white matryoshka... and only you can pul that off! How freaking adorable. If I wasn't already married... and I was getting married... I'd want to hire you to make me a little bride and groom for a wedding cake topper! Hey... there you go... another project for you! I can see it now, you being gushed about in Martha Stewart Weddings!
