(Don't forget to enter my give away if you haven't already!)
I wasn't sad to see the rain this weekend, quite the opposite! How lovely to get some of it when it has been so hot and dry, and it gives me all the more reason to stay inside and sew.
I showed you the Take it Further embroidery on linen a few weeks ago and now it has become a book bag. The heavy and rather textured linen was some I found at a flea market awhile back. I think it was previously a curtain.
This fabric from my stash was ideal for the lining.
Speaking of embroidery, here are some linen embroidery flosses that I added to my collection awhile back thanks to ebay.
The paisley embroidery I had done was with cotton floss. Now I am eager to try linen and wonder if it will be different to work with... isn't it gorgeous?
Now, this is something I have been meaning to show you: the lovely decoration on the top of Lilly's present from Josefine on her birthday. Anne Katrine made it and I just love it. I will show you the gift soon too because it was also handmade!
And here is my girl playing in a cardboard box this weekend, her indoor activity during the rainy spell. The quilt is one I made and so is the little knitted bunny.
Hope that you had a great weekend too. I have so much more to share, so I will post again soon!
linen embroidery thread. something I never even knew existed.... please let me know what it is like. or maybe not...it sounds expensive....... I have a big tin box of embroidery thread that I took from my mom and also bits I have found at garage sales... I imagine it is all cotton.......
emily, give me some ideas for what I should look for when I am back in the states... what is HOT now......

Sometimes a rainy weekend is the best thing to have, your little girl certainly thinks so.
The linen bag is lovely, I really like the embroidery.

Thanks for your lovely note on my blog. You just reminded me to update my own blog roll. I think it has been a year since I touched mine and I have so many more crafty friends. I didn't know you could get linen embroidery floss. The colors look amazing.

I'll be curious what you think of the linen thread. I've used it and like it, but it's not something you can use just anywhere. ;)

Oh, what a fun little box!
The bag is lovely.

Way to recycle again! The lining of your bag is really pretty, and your bag turned out very nicely too. Lilly was having fun! Does she smile every time you point a camera in her direction? Our little grandson does! Matter of fact the other day he saw my camera just sitting and said, gramma can you take my picture?
Well, please put me into your drawing if you will. I would appreciate it. Thanks

Your bag embroidery is perfect with the lining. I hadn't heard of linen floss- only silks and cottons. Please let us know how it handles when you sew.

What a great big smile!
Love that linen bag...there's nothing quite like embroidery on linen is there?

I look forward to hearing how you like the linen floss. I just heard about it for the first time a few weeks ago and am eager to try it on something. I've heard that it is a little trickier to deal with than cotton floss.
Your bag turned out so well - I adore it. Also your daughter's smile made me smile too and I needed that today.

The colours and embroidery is so nicely done and really compliments the bag lining. I keep meaning to try some embroidery myself. Those linen flosses have an interesting texture, would love to see how it looks when sewn.
I love that picture of Lilly, she looks like she's having a ball!
