I so love finding new ways to reuse old things, especially textiles. My husband discarded 3 pairs of jeans recently. I was going to toss them because of the holes in the knees but my squirreling instincts prevented me. I held onto them thinking I might remake them into something else.
I recently read that jeans make great filling for potholders instead of batting. That made me think it would be cool on the outside too! Since I need some gifts for some of the guys in our family I got right down to business.
I used part of the cuffs for the loops as I love the frayed look.
I hope that everyone is having a great weekend. It looked great for us last night as Lilly was back to her lovely and energetic self again. But guess what? Today my darling little boy got hit by the same bug that little sister had. Who is next??? I certainly hope it isn't me or my husband. There are simply too many things to do before we leave for our vacation!
These are fantastic! What a great idea. I may go grab all the jeans pockets I've been saving and whip up a few myself ;-)

Sounds like you need to go get the Disinfectant!!!!! Your pot holders are very clever! Good thinking... did you test them out? Always nice to be able to recycle stuff! I have about 10 old pairs in the basement waiting for the next quilt to be made from them! They make a really heavy, warm quilt! Of course you need to use a heavy backing too.
Take care.... make sure you put your pins in the pin cushion!

old jeans are my very favorite thing of all. they show up in every thing that I make.
the knees might be worn out, but the back of the leg is usually still good and I love sewing the pockets in to stuff.
nice potholders!!!!!!!!

I made a blanket out of four pairs of jeans. I love your potholders. :)

Do you know I keep all my old jeans just in case I come up with some brilliant idea to use them for. This is a VERY good one - very groovy!

What a brilliant idea - I use a lot of jeans as I make the legs into draught excluders so now I have something to make with the pockets!
