Tonight I am getting some time to paint a few faces. I love seeing other people's work spaces so I thought I would share one of mine. I usually paint on the kitchen table during daylight but I was so eager to paint tonight I thought I would try the light in our office. It worked out great. We have a wee small office in a room that used to be a cupboard. There aren't any windows but we have furnished it with a desk that covers two walls with tons of overhead cupboards and bookshelves for storage. I spend more time in here than I should...
Showing you my workspace also gives you a glance at some of my new matryoshkas, albeit a bit blurry. It looks like I will have a shop update very soon!
One of my little matryoshkas was featured on Cuteable yesterday!
Great pic!
what kind of paint are you using. I love the colors and sort of faint shimmery-ness that you get.

Thank you Tanaya! I use fabric paints to paint my dolls. I hadn't thought about it being shimmery but I love the deep, rich color it makes.

I am not sure that I ever realised that you hand painted each of the faces onto your dolls - of course I am not sure I had really thought about how you did it! It just makes them even more perfect!!

I got my little babushka doll today and she is just darling. Thank u! We were in Oslo last Oct as we traveled all around Norway and took the Hurtigruten up along the coast out to the Lofotin Islands and over to Kirkenes. We really loved it there! Emily,
Do you know the children's book Goldie the Dollmaker by M.B. Goffstein? There is a wonderful part of the book when she is painting the faces on her dolls...the description of the importance of that act is just perfect. I always find that when sewing eyes on or making facial features for dolls I hold my breath without even thinking!
Thanks for showing your workspace...
Love,
Iris

O.K. just so it's not an enclosed space... if you know what I mean.... gotta keep those fumes to a minimum... just kidding! Your dolls just look like they are sitting there waiting to find a home!
