There is something about incredibly special about babies. Lilly and I were so gleeful today to hold our newest neighbor - just 12 weeks old. Lilly clapped her hands to her cheeks as she chortled with joy in delight over the baby. We dropped by so that I could loan a couple of baby carriers to the mother of 3 and give a quick lesson in baby wearing. There is really nothing much I like better than teaching that as I know it makes for such a happy mom and baby. My favorite was the Moby Wrap when Lilly was quite small and then the mei tai when she got bigger. When she is sad Lilly says: "Want you to carry in the sling." We really don't carry her that much anymore. I miss it but she is nearly 3 and weighs quite a bit.
Here she is with her adoring big brother and dad when she was still light as a feather and often carried for hours a day! Doesn't it look cozy?
And this is a close up of the decorative outer fabric on our much loved mei tai. I am not sure what I will do with it when we are completely finished with it. I would like to somehow salvage it and make a keepsake for Lilly.
I love meeting babies too! My friend had her first, a little boy, on Saturday and I got to go and visit on Sunday!! Lucky me!!
I think baby slings are a great thing!!

I wore both my kids in a sling and my hubby preferred the Baby Bjorn. They are still pretty snuggly kids even though we don't wear them any more.

Emily, we had the type that you put their tiny little legs thru and had a nice head support that could be removed when they got older. I wish that I had kept it since my family are older now and having children of their own. So handy, and cozy and then you have your hands free too. So fun that your little one gets excited for babies.
So, how old are your kids now? I know Lilly's age since you mentioned it. But her brother? I know that you have said in the past... but I forget.
Have a great day! Jean

WOW! i love this post. it's neat to see lilly when she was so little. thanks for posting about what you used to carry her. now that lily is 7 months old (almost) i'm trying to decide what i should use to carry her in. she likes to be with me but my arms get so tired holding her. did you make the mei tai yourself? i saw a tutorial for that a while ago.

Thank you everyone for your comments! I love to hear from everyone. I will try to be better at answering questions here.
We used the Baby Bjorn for Sebastian when he was a baby. Loved it and pretty much wore it out completely. When we tried a wrap carrier instead we never went back to the Baby Bjorn as we found it to be less of a strain for our shoulders and backs plus the child gets in so much closer that I felt like I could do more with my hands.
Jean, Lilly is nearly 3 and Sebastian is 7.
No, I bought the mei tai, but the turorials make it look easy to make yourself!

Lily is so cute with her nose against daddys chest and her little eyes are closed in the way, you know she is happy, snug and oh so loved. I could look at that picture for hours.
My girls also love to be carried around. We have baby bjorn for Neza. I have wrap but I'm not really comfortable with it. I don't know why.

You could definitely salvage some small bits to use as ornamentation on a doll for her, I'm sure. What a special memory it will hold for her as she grows older!

O.K. I forgot to ask you this in my last... how big was Lilly when she was born? She looks sooo tiny. Was she at least under 7#'s? What can I say... my smallest was 7.15oz. and the rest 8 or 8.5oz. It's been sooo long that sometimes I forget how small they were.
Grand-kids.... yep they are pretty neat too! Jean

What a sweet picture! My little Ruby was just asking the other day where our sling is. And she just turned 3! I think for most of humanity's history, people carried/wore their babies until they were 3 or 4. Ruby also loved looking at that sweet picture. Thanks for sharing!
