I got up early with the children, 6 am as usual. They don't believe in sleeping in. We made breakfast while Daddy slept. Then there was cleaning up and we began to read Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (book 3). Daddy got up and we got ready for a Sunday walk to our neighborhood farm for some exercise and some fresh eggs.
Sebastian biked while Lilly had her regular carriage service when her little legs tired of walking.
It was a bit overcast but it is actually brightening up daily!
The highlight was the baby piggies.
Lilly is also very fond of horses. I might have mentioned it before that big brother is at a stage where he prefers not to be taken pictures of and that is why it is rare that you'll catch a glimpse of him here.
All the fresh air made our littlest one quite sleepy so she was ready for an early nap. Sebastian and I read some more Harry Potter.
Now I am getting to another highlight. Everyone is at the pool now as I write this and I finished my first homemade dress for Lilly!
It makes me think of warm summer days! I made a major mistake while making this: I cut out two right sleeves and I sewed them in. Then I realized after much puzzling... So I took one out and made a new left sleeve. it was really frustrating, the worst part though was before I figured out what went wrong. I really wanted my Mom to be there then.
I bought the fabric at a fleamarket. It is a Norwegian fabric by Sandvika.
Now they are on their way home from the pool and I have to get dinner on the table in 5 minutes... my sewing and blogging fun is done for now.
Sounds like a great day! I'm very envious of your neighborhood farm... there's no way we'd have one of those in our neighborhood! The little dress is beautiful. Lucky Lilly!

Did you manage to have dinner on the table in 5 minutes? ;)
You are SO GOOD to get up at 6 am and let your DH sleep. I hope he tells you that every single time you do it. My DH is also not much of an early riser but luckily our middle two kids don't get up at the crack of dawn. Max always did, though.

It sounds like a great day! I love the fabric that you chose for the dress - it makes me think that spring is just around the corner!!

Thanks everyone for your comments. We are so greatful for the nearby farm! We go there at least once a month and often once a week. The chickens provide some of our eggs and we have bought organic pork and lamb from them.
Barbara, I got to sleep in yesterday, so it was only fair that my dh should sleep in today right?

What a lovely day you had. I specially like the napping part. Gaja is not sleeping during the day since her secound birthday :o(
I love the dress!!! I'm looking for that pattern for ages. Did you find it on internet?

Lovely dress! I knew, you would master sewing clothes nicely.
It's really starting to look like spring for you in there. The whole last week, we've just got more of snow.
You seem to have the same policy of sleeping in; it's my turn on Saturdays and my husband's on Sundays.

Good job on the dress. So cute! I'm sure that she will look cute in it too. So, did you not have the fabric doubled when cutting out? Or if you did have it doubled did you double it with a wrong side of fabric to right side of fabric? Well, at least you had enough to re-cut! Lesson learned right? Guess next time you will remember the lesson learned! That's why we made mistakes.... to learn from them! Tee Hee! It could have been worse.... family could have come home b/4 you found your mistake and there might not of been enough time to correct it! jean

Sounds like you had a good weekend Emily. The dress is beautiful, such pretty fabric. I spent a happy half hour looking at the Liberty web site last night after your mention of it. It is my favorite shop and always visit there when I go to London. A few years ago my sister bought me a beautiful purple teddy bear from there (please note you are never too old to get a teddy ! ! ! ). He sits on the side of my bed and looks cute.
Have a good week, Eileen.

Thank you for showing us the baby piggy and Lilly's sweet little dress. Both just beautiful!

The dress looks great!! I had a shirt idea in mind that looks just like that (shorter, of course!).
And my little one likes to rise at 5 a.m. I usually hand her over to Stephen around 6:30 and hop back into bed for another hour. I'll be happy when she starts sleeping a tad longer...

Sounds like you had a nice relaxing sunday... Apart from the getting up at 6 part...
That dress for Lilly is so cute. Those sleeves looks a bit hard to master though... Lovely spring fabric.

Wonderful pictures. That piggie is too cute. I just want to squeeze him!
Congrats on your first dress. Looks wonderful! I am forever doing crap things like cutting two right sleeves or sewing legs shut. Gah! Anyway, I think she will look darling in her dress. :)

Emily the dress is lovely! The fabric is so fresh, just right for the Spring days ahead.
We have a farm near us that the children enjoy visiting, especially the piggies!

What a beautiful dress! She's a lucky little girl. I'm going to attempt making Thomas the Train shirts for my boys soon... I'll make sure I take extra care not to make two right sleeves.. ;-) Lol. I'm soooo new to sewing that I'll be lucky if I get the buttons sewed on properly..great job.
